Is attentional prioritisation of infant faces is unique in humans?: comparative demonstrations by modified dot-probe task in monkeys

چکیده
Humans innately perceive infantile features as cute. The ethologist Konrad Lorenz proposed that the infantile features of mammals and birds, known as the baby schema (kindchenschema), motivate caretaking behaviour. As biologically relevant stimuli, newborns are likely to be processed specially in terms of visual attention, perception, and cognition. Recent demonstrations on human participants have shown visual attentional prioritisation to newborn faces (i.e., newborn faces capture visual attention). Although characteristics equivalent to 1

متن کاملتاثیر پردازش کلی چهره ای بر سو گیری توجه نسبت به چهره های هیجانی در کودکان مضطرب
This study was performed to examine the effect of holistic face processing and trait anxiety on children’s attentional biases toward schematic natural and jumbled emotional faces (angry, happy, neutral). The participants were entered into study considering their scores in Trait anxiety inventory for children (Spielberger, 1973) and the results of a semi-structured interview. 30 high-and 30 low ...

AbstractObjectives: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of trait anxiety in children, on attentional biases to emotional facial expressions (angry, happy, neutral). Method: 30 children with high trait anxiety and 30 children with low trait anxiety were selected using Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children and a semi-structured interview. The participants completed the Pictorial Versio...
متن کاملReliability of two versions of the dot-probe task using photographic faces
The dot-probe task developed by Macleod, Mathews and Tata (1986) is a measure of attentional bias. Recent developments of the task have favoured the use of human faces as stimuli, however, results from this task have been inconsistent. In 2005, Schmukle published very poor reliability estimates for two versions of the dot-probe task using words and situational images as stimuli. The present stu...
متن کاملDirect and Indirect Measures of Attention Indicate a Bias Toward Cues in Methamphetamine Users
Introduction:This study aims to investigate the attentional bias toward drug-related stimuli along with subjective craving after encountering such stimuli in methamphetamine users. Studies of cue reactivity have confirmed bias in attention and gaze to drug-related stimuli for most substances, but methamphetamine drugs are less studied by a direct measure such as eye tracking. Methods:Thirty ma...
